Mila Jansen: The Hash Queen Who Changed Hash Making Forever
Few people have had as much influence on modern hash making as Mila Jansen. Known worldwide as ‘The Hash Queen’, she has spent decades shaping cannabis culture through innovation, entrepreneurship, and an unwavering passion for the plant.
Mila's journey began long before cannabis became more widely accepted. Growing up surrounded by nature and later travelling extensively through Asia, she developed a deep appreciation for plants and different cultures. During her travels through Afghanistan, India, and Nepal in the late 1960s and early 1970s, she was introduced to traditional hash-making techniques and became fascinated by the craftsmanship behind them.
Years later, back in the Netherlands, Mila made the breakthrough that would change the industry forever. Inspired by the rotating drum of a household dryer, she invented the Pollinator, a machine that efficiently separates trichomes from cannabis flowers to produce high-quality hash. What started as a simple idea quickly became a revolutionary innovation and is now used by growers and hash makers around the world.
Her invention earned her international recognition and the nickname ‘The Hash Queen’. More importantly, it helped make hash production more accessible and consistent, leaving a lasting mark on cannabis culture.
